The charming village of Tavoleto is situated on the top of a steep hill in the middle of the Foglia valley between Marche and Romagna in the province of Pesaro-Urbino. This town organizes several events with food stands and live music, such as the Polenta alla carbonara festival, unique opportunities to experience the traditions of the area.
Built by the family of Sigismondo Malatesta in 1300, it was disputed for decades by the Malatesta and Montefeltro families, then conquered by the Montefeltros in 1458.
OF THE 1ST WEEK OF DECEMBER between art, literature, music, youth and environmental policies. The project was born with the aim of combining art, literature and music in a single seven-day container, in which, to celebrate Pesaro Capital of Culture in 2024, it will be enriched with a multiplicity of events with a now tested format capable of connecting all the nuances of culture at conferences dedicated to strongly felt themes. The event, as it originally had the aim of consolidating community relations in order to face together the most difficult season, that of winter, still honors the traditional mandate by organizing cultural interventions in synergy with the themes of strong topicality most felt by the sensitivity of citizens. In fact, together with moments of music, figurative and literary art, we will develop themes resulting from the involvement of young people in the active life of the Administration and of the country's associations, through the display of proposals born from the discussion tables organized with them. The Antica Fiera therefore brings with it a "strong message" of hope, so that the arts as well as the sociality and activism of the new generations can be the means to face the adversities of winter and shed light on the intrinsic strength of the community and its own tradition. Cultural projects of the event: - Permanent art exhibition - Art objects - Music - Theater - Book presentation - Conferences/conventions
In the annals of the library of Urbino, the following passage is reported: "In Tauleto, to refresh oneself from the fatigue of work in the fields, at the beginning of autumn, a festival was held which commemorates the bloody events but which gives great joy to the entire countryside , they are used to dueling the districts not with the sword but in the art of catching chickens, hens and thrown eggs; ... and then ending up drinking at will". The Palio della Gallina was born from oral tradition and memories handed down from grandparents to grandchildren. Following the bloody events that occurred at the end of March 1797, in which Tavoleto was set on fire by the French and plundered of all its possessions, the surviving villagers, upon their return to the town, were forced to collect the few things that remained intact and recover the animals which, frightened by the bombardments and the terrible fire of the fortress, had scattered across the countryside. The French, as war booty, had grabbed the largest animals, leaving only hens, chickens and rabbits: the initial need to capture the few remaining animals, soon and with the involvement of children, became a source of hilarity and fun. In fact, to get a meal or guarantee the production of eggs, everyone in the town ran frantically from one side to the other, thus giving rise to what, in the years that followed at the end of the summer and after the effort of harvesting the crops, would has become a festival of popular tradition. This is how the Palio della Gallina was born. Every September, on the occasion of the Palio della Gallina, the local promotion associations organize the Polenta Carbonara festival to be enjoyed accompanied by a good glass of local red wine.
