Known as the "Fruit Town", Massa Lombarda is located west of Lugo, in the province of Ravenna. Here the municipality organizes renowned music events that liven up the town such as Crossroads, an international jazz music festival, and Riot Fest, a real music festival with numerous bands that perform in every corner of the town.
The Buco Incavato festival dedicated to fishing in Massa Lombarda takes place at the end of August. The festival highlights the commitment to valorising the project of recovering peasant traditions and safeguarding small productions of gastronomic excellence. In addition to the organization of the festival, the "Sunken Hole" project also sees the promotion of the diffusion of cultivation in the countryside through the "guardians of the Sunken Hole": a synergy between farmers, cultivators and collectors who support the planting of peach, favoring thus the production restart. A commitment that has its roots in local history: between the 19th and 20th centuries, Massa Lombarda established itself in the world as a cutting-edge production reality in the new sector called "industrial fruit growing". The symbol of this revolution was undoubtedly the hollow hole, the most widespread peach variety cultivated in the Massa territories in the first part of the 20th century, so much so that it was marketed under the name "Pesca di Massa Lombarda". The Museum, inaugurated in 1983, is located in a renovated farmhouse. Inside is exhibited an entire museographic review of the past, present and future of fruit farming.
The Museum dedicated to Carlo Venturini is located inside the Cultural Center which also houses the Library and the Art Gallery. The collection represents an exemplary cross-section of the events, criteria and ideological motivations that animated nineteenth-century antiquarian collecting and showcases archaeological and naturalistic materials, strange and curious objects.
