Halfway between the coast and the hills, in the province of Forlì-Cesena Savignano sul Rubicone is recognized throughout Italy as the city where Julius Caesar pronounced the famous phrase "Alea Iacta Est" before marching on Rome. History, tradition, sport and cuisine are the protagonists of this town.
The Castle of Ribano was built in medieval times as a fortified curtis. Already property of the church of Ravenna, in 1580 it passed to the Camaldolese monks who transformed it into a summer residence under the dependence of the convent of Ravenna.
In business for over 55 years, the dairy has been producing mozzarella, fresh and aged cheeses typical of the area, such as Squacquerone di Romagna DOP and Formaggio di fossa DOP.
Along the Via Emilia, there are the remains of a funerary monument with a square base, popularly called the "Petrone".
The original structure dates back to the 4th century, but only at the end of the following century it was rebuilt in the current conformation and place.
