Bastione del Nuti and Porta Maggiore

The Porta Maggiore (or Porta Mazzini, or Porta Malatestiana Maggiore) was until the beginning of the twentieth century the main entrance to the city of Fano.
The Porta was built at the end of 1400 in place of the previous Malatesta defense.

The building is located on the east side of Piazza XX Settembre, on an area that already in Roman times had hosted important buildings. The oldest part was built at the behest of Galeotto I Malatesta after 1357 Lord of Fano.
