A few kilometers from Rimini and San Marino, there is Coriano, the city of the famous motorcycle racer Marco Simoncelli. Culture and history characterize this town and the remains of 7 medieval castles are the proof. Surrounded by the countryside, this municipality is the ideal destination for walking, horse riding or mountain biking.
Since the 11th-12th century, the Coriano Castle has been one of the most important of the numerous fortifications in an area of the Rimini area with precarious security conditions and dense population. In 1209 Coriano passed from the Carpegna family to the Church of Ravenna and the structure was already particularly ancient. In 1356 the Castrum Coriliani was sold by the then owner, the Curia of Ravenna, to the Malatesta family, lords of Rimini. The first city wall was built during the 14th century, together with further architectural defense elements, but public buildings also gradually appeared: in 1421 a municipal house was built, then equipped with a captain, notary and public assemblies. The construction of the current fortress dates back to the mid-15th century. The fortress was not conceived as a residence, but rather as a military structure, where leaders such as Giovanni da Tolentino (1442), Bartolomeo Colleoni (1444) and Braccio da Montone (1446) stayed. Federico di Montefeltro occupied the fortification in 1461 but already in 1463 Sigismondo Malatesta managed to regain possession of it. From 1469 Roberto Malatesta and his son Pandolfo IV renovated the structure. Roberto, in particular, expanded the perimeter of the walls and equipped them with new bastions. Between 1504 and 1509 the castle was possessed by the Venetians and the Superintendent Malipiero in his report on the state of Rimini of 1504 described it as: castle 8 miles away from Arimino, surrounded by a wall with a high scarp passing 7, the high corridor is 7 miles away. passes 194. 3 families live in this castle. It has a door. In 1512, the surrounding countryside was plundered by Spanish troops, who also burned the castle gate. In 1528 Pope Clement VIII granted the Castle to the Sassatellis of Imola, who maintained their control there until 1579-80, after which it returned to the Apostolic Chamber, then, from 1605, to the Municipality of Rimini. The structure visible today appears to have overcome, in its long history, various unfavorable contingencies: an earthquake in 1672, a fire in 1882 and the collapse of the Gothic Line in September 1944, which left only 2% of the private building stock of Coriano unharmed. In the years 1999-2000 the castle was the subject of important restoration and rehabilitation works under the patronage of the Superintendence and of Fine Arts. The stone coat of arms of the Sassatelli family who inhabited the castle between 1528 and 1580, is set above the door access to the castle and is still the coat of arms of the Municipality of Coriano: Three silver mountains placed side by side on a blue field: the highest middle one topped with a silver heart; two lateral ones surmounted by golden lilies; all within a crown with three flowers and two points, as currently shown in the municipal banner.

Podere Bianchi is tradition. A story spanning four generations which, thanks to his love and passion for his land, wanted to merge his historical knowledge with progress and innovation. The farm then transformed, giving voice not only to the land and the grapes but also to all the wonders by which it is surrounded. From these solid foundations the agritourism came to light. This structure was born in 2013 and stands on the old cellar and some of its walls have remained intact. The agricultural and winery Podere Bianchi has moved towards the conversion of its land for the cultivation of vines and olive trees. Thanks to the favorable microclimate and the care taken in cultivation, the wines and extra-virgin olive oil are of the highest quality. Podere Bianchi manages eighty hectares of land: 24 intended for vineyards, 8 for olive groves (correggiolo, leccino and moraiolo) and the remainder for sowing (cereals and pumpkins). The cured meats are home-grown, the chickens and rabbits that are cooked on the farm are all raised on the farm and are fed with the cereals produced in the fields. The beef, however, is purchased from local producers. The vegetables come from the company garden and this allows us to always provide seasonal vegetables to customers. The farmhouse perfectly reflects seasonal availability. The à la carte menu changes every month.
The Pasquinoni family has been engaged in the artisanal production of 100% Italian extra virgin olive oil of the highest quality since 1968. Built in April 1945, with graves brought from the surrounding battlefields, it houses 1939 graves of soldiers of various nationalities (1413 British, 427 Canadians, 28 South Africans, 8 Indians, 1 Australian, 4 of other nationalities, 54 unknown and 7 non identified), who died above all during the last major battle between the Eighth Army and the Wehrmacht between 4 and 13 September 1944 on the Coriano ridge for the breakthrough of Green Line 2. The cemetery was built on land ceded by 'Italy under the terms of the peace treaty and is looked after on behalf of the United Kingdom War Graves Commission.
It dates back to the end of the 19th century, one of the few buildings that survived the war and reopened with the name CORTE Coriano Teatro. The project is by Alessandro Ferri, municipal expert of Coriano, a student of Poletti who designed the Galli Theater in Rimini. The construction of the palace required almost four years of work: from the summer of 1889 to the end of 1893. It cost the sum, considerable for those times, of 40,000 lire. All the government offices were housed on the sea side: registry offices, land registry, notarial archive. It should be remembered that at the time Coriano was the seat of the district and housed all the government offices for the territory of six municipalities and among these it was the most populous. The boys' primary schools were located on the mountain side. At the beginning of the twentieth century the palace was transformed into a theater due to a lack of students. There is no certain information about the twenty years from 1920 to 1940; the only ones who talk about theater say that it was the venue for dance parties, then in the 1930s the O.N.D. was set up. (Opera Nazionale Dopolavoro), a recreational club located in the basement of the building. From 1964 to 1965 those changes were made that would give the theater its final appearance, except for a subsequent intervention for safety reasons. Another intervention of a certain size was carried out around the years 1972 - 1975. These works were aimed at the construction of the municipal library. A management office was created, a secretariat with function as a meeting room, a larger and a smaller consultation room, as well as a service for the entire area; always under the portico, in the part of the building that housed the shop, an exhibition room and in the remaining part of this wing the headquarters of a trade union. The renovation project was approved in 1993 but the works continued until 2008 and involved an investment of 7 million euros. The inauguration took place on December 28, 2008 after a closure lasting 17 years. The Theater has a large room with 189 seats, a small room with 80 seats and two meeting rooms (used as the Marco Simoncelli Museum). The Palace can be used for exhibitions, conferences and business meetings. There is a food and wine space set up to promote local products.
The Podium On Saturday 8 December 2012, under the snow, the monument 'Il Podio del Sic' was inaugurated which the 58 Boys Association wanted to dedicate to Marco Simoncelli. It is a space created for fans, where they will have the opportunity to leave a memory, but also stop and meet. The work has a double connotation on the one hand a tribute to the champion, on the other the desire to make it a living space. A simple seat that recalls a track, a curve and a race. Curving, it closes the composition and brings attention back to the center where three square blocks of different heights are inserted. The highest podium bears the dedication to the champion with a plaque that reads one of Marco's most significant phrases: "I would like to be remembered as someone who knew how to excite in a race". Mindscape 58 On May 5, 2012, the work that Eron, one of the greatest exponents of Italian street art, created for Marco Simoncelli was inaugurated. The original work is part of the Mindscape series and is exhibited inside the Sic Museum, while on the facade of the Palasport named after Marco Simoncelli on the same day, you can admire the 350 square meters of the gigantic permanent reproduction of the monumental work painted by Eron which since 2012 has illuminated Coriano and the millions of fans who will pass through Marco Simoncelli's birthplace to pay homage to an unforgettable star of international sport. The Flame "Every Sunday" Lino Dainese commissioned the creation of this installation to the artist Arcangelo Sassolino, who tried to interpret the passion for racing and speed that animated the driver from Coriano. The work was built by the Ometto company of Padua on a twenty meter base in a green area specially dedicated to it by the Municipality of Coriano and has the features of a kind of cannon which every Sunday evening at dusk shoots out a flame 3 meters long meters, for exactly 58 seconds. In the Municipality's idea, this area should be a meeting place for all young motor enthusiasts.

In the center of the town, on the top of the Coriano hill, there is the parish church of Santa Maria Assunta, an imposing building erected after the bombing of Coriano in the Second World War which destroyed the old seventeenth-century church. The young parish priest of the time Don Michel Bertozzi (1917-1999) had the difficult task of rebuilding the church and the rectory, finding the necessary funds. The building was rebuilt based on the project of the Rimini architect Luigi Campanini (1897-1974). Already in 1946 work was done to remove the ruins and rubble and the foundations of the new building were laid. The works then stopped until 1951 when, thanks to an initial fund of 16 million lire given by the State for reconstruction funds, the first stone was laid on May 15th by Bishop Luigi Santa. In two years the work was completed and was inaugurated on 13 September 1953 by the Bishop of Ravenna Msgr. Egidio Negrin. The Church cost 60 million lire, 46 million covered by the State. The difference was covered by the subscriptions of the faithful and by the continuous work of Don Michele Bertozzi to raise funds. The bell tower, 40 meters high, was started on 15 November 1954 and finished on 29 August 1955. The interior of the Church, spacious and bright, contains a tapered 13th century wooden crucifix and several Marian statues and other saints of fine workmanship. Thanks to a diocesan bull, the church is declared the Sanctuary of the Most Holy Crucifix with a triennial celebration on the third Sunday of September. Between 2006 and 2007, due to a collapse of the structure due to the land on which it stands, the church underwent a radical restoration. The exterior of the church is made of exposed brick. On the façade, the wooden door and the round arch window above are inscribed within a decorative arch motif also made of brick. The roof is gable. The church, with a Latin cross plan, has three naves and, at the point of intersection of the main one with the transept, there is an octagonal dome. The apse is raised by two steps.
