Bagnacavallo is one of the most interesting tourist destinations in the Ravenna area. It is made so by the well-preserved historic centre, built on an original medieval plan with a singular sinuous structure, beautiful porticoed streets and a large number of noble palaces and religious buildings. Among the most interesting buildings to visit are Piazza Nuova, the Goldoni Theater, the former convent of San Francesco, the Civic Museum of the Capuchins and the Ecomuseum of marsh herbs in Villanova di Bagnacavallo.
The convent of San Francesco, dating back to the 13th century, is the oldest convent building in the city of Bagnacavallo. The complex includes the church and the large convent which houses: the beautiful Sala Oriani or "new refectory", the cloister, the monumental staircase and the rooms on the first floor (not restored) used as exhibition spaces, the basements and the "large attic " also called Hall of the Trusses. Part of the building houses the Albergo Antico Convento San Francesco.
Bursôn is an ancient, unique and indigenous vine of the Bagnacavallo area. The name derives from the nickname given to the Longanesi family who in the 1950s had the merit of believing in the potential of these grapes and saving them from extinction. It is vinified according to tradition and subsequently refined in barriques. It is garnet red in color and completes its great personality in the bottle where the flavors and aromas of the undergrowth of the Ravenna pine forests where the vine has survived for years emerge. Since it is dry, with an unmistakable aroma and body, it pairs beautifully with game or red meat dishes, roasts, truffles and mature cheeses. Bursôn is part of the basket of the Consortium of the typical product "Il Bagnacavallo". Adjacent to the Town Hall, since it was built between 1839 and 1845 based on a design by the Bolognese architect Filippo Antolini, the theater has hosted high-level performances. Nowadays this tradition continues with a lively program. Going to a show is also the best way to admire the structure of this theatre, with its horseshoe-shaped stalls, the three tiers of boxes, plus a gallery, with continuous parapets decorated with stucco and frescoes, the vault, the proscenium and the richly embellished proscenium arch. Also interesting is the original curtain from the early 19th century, painted by the Bolognese Antonio Muzzi, recently restored. In 1907 the theater was dedicated to Carlo Goldoni, whose father had long practiced as a doctor in Bagnacavallo. Giulio Goldoni's tomb is located in the Church of San Girolamo.
The Le Cappuccine Civic Museum of Bagnacavallo is located in the former convent of the Capuchin nuns which houses within it: the "G.Taroni" Library with the Historical Archive, the Ancient and Modern Art Gallery, the "P. Bubani" Naturalistic Museum and the Cabinet of ancient and modern prints. The works of art and, in general, the pieces that make up the various collections have different origins. The most significant nuclei are those coming from the heritage of the Opere Pie Groupe, from churches closed to worship or destroyed and from private donations.

Due to the uniqueness of its architectural structure, this oval square, surrounded by an elegant loggia, is one of the most characterizing elements of Bagnacavallo. Built in 1758, it was initially conceived as a place for trading and selling meat, fish and oil. In addition to its elliptical plan, noteworthy is the body, where the shops are located, which has an exposed brick façade towards the outside and the portico with round arches towards the inside. It is a place that expresses a natural romanticism and invites to be experienced in two very different situations: when it is less frequented by the crowd, and perhaps the mists of Lower Romagna give it an almost metaphysical aura, or in conjunction with the food and wine events that take place there, during which it becomes a theater of excellence for typical local products.
The ancient parish church of San Pietro in Sylvis, from the 7th century, is one of the best preserved Romanesque parish churches in the Ravenna area and a classic example of exarchal architecture. In the presbytery there is a Greek marble memorial altar from the end of the 6th century; while in the crypt, from the 11th century, a 6th-7th century table altar in Greek marble on small columns. The lapidary preserves Roman handle bricks, two fragmentary sandstone plutei and the marble arches of a ciborium dating back to the 8th century. The basilica was probably built near an ancient Roman temple dedicated to Jupiter. The place where it stands could correspond to the easternmost of the ports, along the southern bank of the marshes, used by pilgrims, around the year one thousand, to reach Rome along the Via dei Romei. The church has a rectangular plan divided into three naves by simple "T" pillars that support the round arches. The apse, which preserves frescoes dating back to around 1320 attributed to the master Pietro da Rimini, is oriented to the east, semicircular on the inside and polygonal on the outside. Other frescoes, from the 15th century, can be attributed to artists of the Ferrara school.
The Ecomuseum of Marsh Civilization of Villanova di Bagnacavallo is organized into various exhibition sections and includes educational and multimedia rooms. The museum displays a rich collection of artefacts and equipment linked to the processing and weaving of marsh grasses and local wood, characteristic of the town of Villanova until the 1960s. Located a few kilometers from the center of Bagnacavallo, Podere Pantaleone can be considered an outdoor educational museum, thanks to the ecological and environmental rebalancing area of approximately six hectares. The flora and fauna typical of the plain areas have developed freely, giving life to a habitat of great environmental interest.
Craft objects made with marsh grasses and local wood can be purchased at the Ecomuseo delle Erbe Palustri which recovers and preserves a traditional heritage made of joints, weaves, wefts, twists and spinning. The Center houses around 3,000 artefacts which highlight the relationship between man and the valley with particular attention to artefacts made from marsh grass, according to medieval and nineteenth-century techniques. In addition to the Museum, the Center has an Ethnopark - Villanova delle huts, in which, through a short route, it is possible to admire the splendid huts made of reeds according to ancient construction techniques.
